Since my mother's passing in 2017, I have used many of her belongings as sources for my work. I cut up piles of House & Garden magazines to create collages; I used her tapestry pattern books to copy snippets into my paintings; I scanned and made screen-prints from her Lefkara lace collection of tablecloths and stitched the fabric remnants from her sewing projects into my hanging assemblages. Much of my PhD research revolved around creating. triangulation between Morris, my mother, and me. Using her fabrics and craft materials was a way to preserve her memory and literally weave it into my work.
